For those who don’t know, “Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe” was announced a short while ago. As the title says, “MK vs DC” is a crossover fighting game, pitting the warriors of Mortal Kombat against the do-gooders of DC. Truly an odd assortment of combatants…and fans of both franchises were iffy.
Ever since “Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe” was announced, I was freaking out. Not in a good way, mind you, but in a “lol wut” way. “Marvel vs Capcom” was genius. Two completely different groups of characters came together to pummel the living sheep out of each other. It was truly a work of art.
Now Capcom’s fighting game nemesis from the 90’s is back, bringing along with it a slew of mindfucks. Mortal Kombat is all about kicking the living crap out of the each other and then ripping their heads off with a fiery blaze to “finish him.” Midway originally said “no fatalities,” but it would seem that they were mistaken. It was recently announced that there WILL be fatalities in “MK vs DC,” but only the MK and DC villains will be able to execute them. DC boy scouts will use “brutalities” to “incapacitate” the opponent. Pretty much what I get from this is that instead of shooting a drill whip into the opponent’s body and ripping out their spine, DC heroes will grab their lasso of truth and tie them up, scolding them for being naughty. I don’t think I’ll be playing of Superman in this game.
Speaking of Superman…if Scorpion or Sub-Zero can literally KILL the enemy, how is Superman gonna die? Honestly. Is every MK character and DC villain gonna whip out some kryptonite or summon Doomsday? I don’t see that happening. Obviously this is gonna break canon. Unless they make a movie…*shudders*
Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe will be released November 17, 2008. We’ll see how it is then. There’s also a new trailer for E3. That bitch is posted below.
